Specialty Products
IPEX offers a selection of innovative specialty products engineered to deliver superior performance, low-maintenance, safety and long service life throughout your municipal infrastructure.
IPEX PVC Manholes
IPEX PVC manholes are designed to replace traditional concrete manholes, a weak link in the majority of municipal sewer systems. Made of tough, non-corroding Big Brute™ PVC pipe, they are immune to corrosion from H2S, chlorides and other chemicals commonly found in sanitary sewers.
Unlike concrete, IPEX manholes will not crack and deteriorate – eliminating exfiltration, groundwater infiltration and root intrusion into the sanitary sewer, overloaded treatment plants and corroded, broken manholes that compromise roads and public health.
IPEX PVC manholes incorporate an innovative top connection consisting of a floating frame seated on a recycled-rubber riser ring. This design creates a gasket-type seal while absorbing heavy impacts, transferring the load to the surrounding soil, not the manhole.
Available with precast, protective coated or lined concrete base adapters for connection to mainlines <24" (600 mm), or PVC tee risers for mainlines >24" (600 mm).
LifeSaver™ Manhole Adjusting Systems
Municipalities and contractors across North America are eliminating the excessive maintenance, limited life and high construction costs of conventional concrete manhole adjusting rings, while improving the performance of their manhole structures, with IPEX LifeSaver™ manhole adjusting systems.
Made of durable, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and impervious to corrosion from H2S and other chemicals found in sewers, LifeSaver™ manhole adjusting units are proven to outperform and outlast traditional concrete. The settlement and breakup of surrounding road surfaces, due to the migration of fine soils through broken mortar and concrete rings that have cracked under heavy traffic loads, is eliminated.
Lightweight and easy to handle, LifeSaver™ manhole adjusting systems are available with both flat and slope units to allow fast, simple installation precisely to grade. Watertight joints between units are formed using IPEX approved sealant (butyl caulk), so there’s no field mixing mortar. Installations can be backfilled and compacted as soon as the casting is in place.
LifeSaver™ Catch Basin Adjustment Systems
Precision injection molded from high-density polyethylene (HDPE), LifeSaver™ catch basin adjusting systems provide the strength and flexibility to absorb shocks from vehicle loads, prolonging the life of the catchbasin.
Lightweight and easily installed without the need for caulk or mortar, the LifeSaver™ catch basin adjusting system allows water to infiltrate the catch basin, while filtering out silt and other fine particles, stabilizing and prolonging the life of the surrounding road bed. And unlike concrete, the LifeSaver™ system is impervious to corrosion.
Both flat and slope units are available, for precise adjustment to grade. Available in 24" x 24" and 24" x 36" sizes. Units can be easily offset to accommodate any variation in catch basin construction.
Inlet Control Devices
A cost-effective alternative to designing for “100-year” or even “25-year” storms, IPEX PVC inlet control devices (ICD’s) reduce the risk of flooded basements and surcharged sewers upstream of the catch basin during major storms, by diverting rainfall to temporary surface storage such as catch basins, parking lots and roadways – away from basements and foundations.
The IPEX ICD’s patented, low-maintenance sump-scouring design draws the water level below the main orifice keeping it free of floating debris during dry periods. What’s more, during heavy rainfall it generates a strong vortex action in the approach flow, vigorously scouring sediment from the sump of the catch basin.
Available in a tapered “plug” design to fit 8", 10" or 12" (200 mm, 250 mm and 300 mm) PVC, clay, concrete or other type of pipe; as well as a fabricated “frame” design to fit any size and type of pipe.
